We enjoyed an excellent Ethiopian dinner at Lalibela, 1001 W. 11th St. in Sioux Falls SD on 1/23/08. We ordered the two dinner items that contain a sampling of a variety of Ethiopian foods (one vegetarian, one not). The friendly gracious waiter (owner?) served them together on the same platter to make sharing easier. Every item was tasty, and the stew-like items were spicy as we had requested. The platters included chicken stew, lamb cubes, collard greens, green salad, and various bean "spreads" and vegetable/potato mixtures. There is no silverware provided--you tear off pieces of the spongey delicious injera bread and scoop up the foods with that. Generous helpings--we couldn't finish. $30 for two including Perrier, tea, and a glass of yummy honey wine. The restaurant is spacious, clean, and nicely furnished with African-themed chairs and Ethiopian posters and knicknacks. We were the only customers, sadly. This place deserves to stay in business. They would probably get more customers if they would concede forks and knives to their nonEthiopian visitors, though it's more fun to do it the Ethiopian way!
