La Tortilla Loca-review

Just Larry | Feb 1, 200509:23 PM

Had lunch today at La Tortilla Loca, 18134 Sherman Way, Reseda 818 344 3510.
There was a big sign out front that said Fish Tacos Baja Ensenada. When I went up to the counter to order I noticed them making fresh tortillas...a good sign. I ordered 2 fish tacos, total with tax was less then $5.00. They brought a basket of the best tortilla chips that I have had in years. The salsa that came with the chips was boring but they have a salsa bar with some pretty good salsas. Shortly the tacos came. Each taco is on 2 hearty fresh tortillas, with 3 big pieces of fresh fried fish, cabbage, crema, cilantro, tomato and onion. I turned each taco into 2 tacos and pigged out. A splash of the spicy salsa added a bit of zing to the tacos and made for a very enjoyable, inexpensive lunch. They also have Mulitas and I hear that the Al Pastor is pretty great. They also have an Albondigas type soup with Shrimp Balls, a shrimp ceviche type dish called Aguachile and a Shrimp Burger that have been positively reviewed. They also serve Margaritas and they will take your order from your table. I will make at least 2 more trips to try the things that I did not get today. Not worth a trip cross town but well worth a look if you are nearby. For dessert they also have a Coconut Bar with Chocolate Chips that I hear is pretty good. After 4 tacos, I was in no position to investigate. If possible, go with a group of 4 or 6 so that you can get a taste of everything. My wife won't eat seafood so I need to make lots of trips back. Pity :).
