La Sardine

Went to La Sardine with another fellow hound for the Tuesday 20 dollar pre fixe, (any entree, app, and dessert for this price).

This represents an amazing value for top notch quality French bistro fare. For this price, I could eat every Tuesday.

Had the Braised Oxtail and Gnocchi in a red wine beef reduction sauce for appetizer. Very tasty. Perfect braise, beefy broth, pillowy gnocchi.

Entree was bouillabaisse, which was good, even included a half lobster tail. In all fairness I like bouillabaisse at Chez Joel better, (CJ has a more savory broth) but this was no slouch.

Dessert was Grand Marnier Souffle with raspberry sauce. Seriously, no exaggeration, one of, if not the best souffle I have ever had. I have had souffle at a handful of city and suburban bistros, Everest, and even in Paris. This one was perfect light airy, tasting of grand marnier essence and fresh eggs. I also tasted my friends Chocolate souffle with creme anglaise and fresh vanilla bean, also spectacular.

Service was pretty good, not exceptional, but above average. I highly recommend. Sardine does not seem to get a ton of mention on the boards, but worth any chowhounds Tuesday for sure.
