LA Chowhound who frequents NYC here. I am coming for 6 days in a few weeks and am planning my next NYC chow experience. I was hoping for some opinions on what I have selected or some other recommendations.
Two standards the SO and I cannot miss are LUPA and UNION SQUARE CAFÉ. So those two are for sure. (THE OAK BAR is another must and I am thankful to get to NYC right before it closes, I am so bummed about that, I love to martini there.)
Restaurants I love -- but am going to try to avoid repeating yet again -- are GRAMERCY TAVERN, CRAFT and JEAN-GEORGES. I had a great time at OLD HOMESTEAD once, and have been to BLUE FIN which I found just ok. Oh and loved the $29 burger at DB BISTRO.
Currently I have reservations at TOWN, OUEST and PETER LUGARS. And have a time set to go by PEARL OYSTER BAR, which sounds great. I was also going to try PASTIS, mostly because the SO was a huge Sex In The City fan and thought he would get a kick out of it. (I remember another place being mentioned, open late night, that was near or across the street from Pastis that some people liked a lot more, but I cant remember it.) People seem split over CAFÉ GREY, so I wasnt sure about it.
I also love neighborhood joints with the feel of LUPA, for instance. I went to GINOS on Lexington last time I was in town and had an absolute blast.
Comments or other recommendations would be appreciated.
