JW Blue Label Alternative [insert collective groan here]

Hi All,

I know it's an obnoxious request, and I've decided to go ahead with it anyway, so let me begin with a big Thank You! for clicking on the thread. I am hunting for a nice gift for a pretty religious Blue Label drinker. I was going to gift a bottle of Kavalan ex-Bourbon, but put it back down when I saw it was cask strength.

Why does he like Blue Label? Comfort, familiarity, smoothness. I've bought him some gifts in the past that were winners (Hedonism, Berry's Clynelish Sherry finish) and losers (Berry's Blue Hanger, Shackleton). I can tell you that while he does enjoy swapping "prestige" for the novelty/rarity of the ones mentioned above, he's not a fan of burn or big peat. As for non-Scotch options- maybe cognac/armagnac and maybe Bourbon or Japanese whiskey. He really enjoyed a Nikka from the barrel, and he did receive a gift recently of Angels Envy Cask strength I'm pretty sure he liked despite the big ABV.

Price point: +/- $100. I look forward to some great replies. Thanks in advance!
