J.P. Fields in Clayton, MO

Carson | Mar 25, 200604:56 PM

My husband and I stopped at J.P. Fields for a bite to eat after perusing World News. Boy is this place terrible; certainly the worst food I’ve eaten since Girl Scout Camp! I ordered an Irish coffee. It came with no whipped cream, the coffee weak and cold, and the whiskey minimal. I asked for cream and was brought a small jug full of curdled cream that immediately fouled the Irish Coffee, so it all went back. Period. I begged no replacement. I thought chicken strips from the appetizer menu would be tough to mess up. Wrong. They had no taste. None. Dierberg’s Deli does a better job. The only sense of flavor I got was one of uncooked flour. The accompanying honey mustard similarly insipid. My husband ordered a cup of chili and half turkey sandwich. The soup of the day was brought instead – a tomato, salmon, shrimp concoction that did not smell good -- the sandwich was on stale bread with no mayonnaise. All of this was eventually righted by a rather harried and apologetic waitress, but all in all it was one of the worst dining experiences I can remember. We were offered a free dessert, but turned it down. Why add insult to injury? The name of this place again is J.P. Fields. Do NOT go there. BLEEECH!
