Jarred chestnuts vs. Roasting and peeling my own

I am interested in making garbanzo bean and chestnut soup. Would jarred or packaged chestnuts be better than chestnuts I purchase at the grocery store that I roast and peel myself? If yes, which brand do you recommend?
