Restaurants & Bars 5

best jamaican cart

keith Koenigsberg | Jul 28, 1999 04:45 PM

Just finished lunch and am inspired to give props to my
favorite Jamaican cart, which has the best jerk chicken
I've ever had, anywhere. (Including Jamaica)

This is the cart parked on liberty park, in lower
manhattan, on Liberty Street between Bwy and Trinity.
The lady makes 3 or 4 dishes every day (always jerk
chicken, and a rotating schedule of curries,
escoviches, etc.), and everything is spicy, saucy, and
totally awesome. Servings are plentiful, and depending
on her mood and what's available at the market, any day
brings fresh surprises: codfish fritters, homemade
drinks (ginger beer, various punches and juices, moss
drinks, and on and on)(I actually don't think she makes
these herself).

Plus she gives me hell when I haven't been by for a
while.

I love New York.
