Saw an old episode of Iron Chef last night ("Matsutake Battle"), and the challenger was the owner of what was described as a "members only" restaurant named Hanabishi in Little Tokyo here in Los Angeles. There's no current listing for a restaurant by that name on the LA Health Department page. Anyone know if this place still exists, and if so, what hoops one needs to jump through to dine there? If it's gone, was it good?
Also, anyone know of a good place to try matsutake mushrooms here in LA? (They looked pretty darn good.)
