Indian Cuisine: Strictly Pork-less?

OK, so the parents and I were at the Jackson Diner (Queens, NY) on Saturday, chowing down on their AYCE lunch buffet. Everything was solidly good, not great, and the potato dosas were excellent, freshly made at the "dosa station," which hadn't been there the last time I was there. But I digress...

Dad and I got to talking about how we've never seen pork featured on Indian menus (in the greater NY metro area, anyway), and we wondered why. I ran this past an Indian friend, who happens to be Christian, and he said that his wife cooks "excellent" pork dishes at home, though he has not seen it in restaurants, either.
I told him I had heard that most Indian restaurants in the NYC were run by Bangladeshis, and he confirmed that the vast majority of them are Muslim.

So...is this the reason? Or is it something else? And, does anyone happen to know of an Indian restaurant in the NY area that does good pork dishes?

Thanks!!
