A coworker suggested we try Inara, on La Brea near 2nd, for lunch today. It's Japanese with an emphasis on organic and possibly macrobiotic food, mostly vegan and fish. OK, I did ask for someplace healthy, but this was a bit much. We were the only ones in the stark white room, and lunch dishes were in the $12 to $15 range. The salmon teriyaki, miso soup and salad were fine, but you can eat the same food for half the price and much more selection at Mishima or Hirozen. The only plus for me was no tempura on the menu, so my deep fried food fetish could not be indulged. Apparently they have Buddhist meetings there and are affiliated with a certain Buddhist sect. Does anyone actually eat at this place?
