A Impromptu Chow Outting: Maxwell Street Sunday Feb. 29

YourPalWill | Feb 27, 2004 10:57 AM

What?

A loosely organized chow outting at the Maxwell Street Market and Johnson's Family Soul Food.

For What?

To benefit St. Leonards House, transitional housing for recently released inmates located on the West Side of Chicago.

How Does it Work?

Chowhounds will arrive at the Market where each participant will spend $10 market items for the residents of St. Leonards. Needs include men's underwear (size 34-38. Men's t-shirts (size Large and Extra Large), Cans of Coffee, and belts. Feel free to donate cash if you wish and we will put it to good use for St. Leonards.

Between 9:45am and 10:30am, Yours truly will be stationed at the Starbucks kiosk in the Dominicks adjacent to Maxwell Street to collect donations. Hang around for a few minutes, partner up with other arriving Chowhounds and venture out into the market for some truly unique chow experiences.

Then, around 1:00, we will depart Maxwell Street for Johnson's Family Soul Food at Ashland and 83rd where we'll further explore some of the best soul food that the southside has to offer.

RSVP?

There's no RSVP necessary for the Maxwell Street part of the outting. Just show up! Let us know if you want to plan to join us at Johnson's. It's a small place and it's Sunday, so we want to let them know how many people to expect. You can RSVP for Johnson's by emailing pdaane@yahoo.com.
