My husband has been off working in Beijing for almost 3 months and gets home Feb 18th for 2 weeks, then will be back in China for another 3 months. Since he's only hear for 2 weeks before he goes back I'm not doing anything Asian as he will want home cooked meals.
My fridge is pretty bare as I've only been cooking for myself and I need to stock up and menu plan for when he is here. I'm looking for ideas, and recipes.
He has mentioned wanting Florida Orange juice, I'll get that from the farmers market. I thought about Burgers and Tacos as beef there is more expensive to get. But he will want to go out to his favorite taco place and his favorite beer and burger bar.
Here are some ideas I came up with.
Idea one: Cooking together a Surf and Turf type meal
He likes Lobster, and Steak but he's not a fan of shrimp much, Scallops or fish would be fine. Sides would be something I'm not sure on.
Italian meal something like Lasagna or another pasta, with garlic bread, some sort of salad, wine and a sweet dessert. (China doesn't have a lot of sweet desserts)
I have ground lamb and he loves Shepards Pie. maybe that with a chocolate dessert and some beer
I was also thinking of making a cheese cake or one of his favorite desserts nothing Oreo though because the can get Oreo's over there.
I want to stock the fridge, so he can come home and enjoy some things, we'll probably go and buy more things for dinner as well.
