Holiday office luncheon, a long question?

jen | Oct 25, 2002 07:51 PM

Every year my colleagues and I treat our office staff to a nice lunch at a restaurant; no expense account here so price is an issue.
We will have about 12-15 people in the party, not usually large enough to get a private room.
The difficulty with this lunch is to find a place that has good food that is not too out there for the TGI Friday crowd that we are entertaining. Most ethnic food is out except for Italian, but I am curious if latino food would go over well with them.
We are located near 7th and Walnut streets and we would like to be able to walk to the restaurant. It has to have a liquor license, as our staff loves to order cocktails; the sweeter the better.
We have gone to the following places over the years:
La Buca (a little stuffy and boring), the restaurant at the top of the Bellvue(we had horrible service there), Devon seafood grille(believe it or not, it was way too expensive as they wouldnt do a prix fixe menu for us). We came very close one year to going to La Famiglia, as they had a great deal for a prix fixe lunch for $20.00. They did not have a single bottle of wine for less than $50.00, however, so we went elsewhere.
So far I am thinking about calling Valanni, Mixto, the place that used to be the Copper Penny at Society Hill Towers, Sfizzio. Anyone been to Sfizzio? Any and all suggestions would be apppreciated
