I know it's been awhile, but personally I still haven't solved this. Sarcone's Old Fashioned Italian was the perfect hoagie for me. Not an overstuffed jawbreaker, never too wet, nor too dry, the sharpest provolone, the silkiest Italian meats. And the bread. I recently had a very tasty sandwich from a pleasant new place in Northern Liberties called Liberty Kitchen. The kid who made it said he thought their sandwich was "better" than the old Sarcone's hoagies, because of their secret-recipe balsamic dressing. Nice try kid. A good effort, and the culinary equivalent of some millennial telling you they prefer the latest Beatles cover to the original.
If you were (a) a Sarcone's fan and (b) you're still posting on these boards (which makes you a double dinosaur): where do you get your Italian-American bliss nowadays?
