I lived in New Jersey when I was a kid in the early 70's, Toms River to be exact. I've been chasing New Jersey subs ever since (along with good pizza, but that's another thread. LOL). I could swear my parents used to get our subs from a place called "Mr. Sub". I'm not sure where it was....could've been Toms River, could've been Bricktown. My childhood memories are that was the best sub I've ever had... The perfect soft white roll with a little crunch on the outside, Italian meats, cheese, shredded lettuce, tomato, onion, oil and vinegar....that's it. I discovered Jersey Mike's on a trip to Florida and it seemed to be pretty close. Here in Colorado Springs, we have a sub shop called Trivelli's that is run by a couple from New Jersey, and their sandwiches are, again, very close to what I remember. Other places I've been to, all over the country, have been completely disappointing.... Anyway.....can you longtime Jersey residents verify that a place called "Mr Sub" existed and, if so, do you know what happened to it? I can't find anything on it. Thank you soooooo much!!!
