my husband and i just moved here from new york city, and it board has been so helpful to us in researching great new places to try! thank you! anyway, we just found this tiny place in our neighborhood and i was surprised that it didn't turn up in any chowhound searches... i heartily recommend Hedley's on Robertson between santa monica blvd. and melrose. it is super low-key, great mellow atmosphere, great simple food with fresh creative ingredients, and in my (unknowledgable) opinion, a lovely simple wine list. and for dessert - a really tasty chocolate bread pudding, or a snickerdoodle cupcake! yum! this is our new favorite place - totally unpretentious, not what you would expect on robertson, although it is away from the scene-y stuff. it just reminds us of all of the cute little neighborhood joints we miss from downtown manhattan. i promise i have no relationship to the restaurant, i just want it to stay in business so we can keep on going there! we haven't seen it busy yet - although that's not to say it doesn't get busy, maybe on weekends or something - and i worry that it is too much of a secret. so check it out!
