After several unsuccessful attempts to try out Hector's on Henderson, we finally made it this weekend. Hector, formerly of Riviera and Iris, has reopened the space on Henderson previously occupied by Savino's. The space is minimalist white with colorful modern art on the walls. The main dining room is large and features live music while the back room and patio are sound free.
The food by chef Todd is new american with some delightful presentation ideas that created some audible oohs at our table. We tried the redfish, mussels and filet and all were very good, particularly the mussels. For those that enjoy calamari steak fingers, be sure and try Todd's version. I'm more of a calamari ring guy myself but these strips were thick, tender and perfectly fried.
Desserts were also creatively presented, particularly the creme brulee served in a hollowed out candied apple with the top of the apple (the lid) suspended above the apple on a tall bamboo skewer.
Overall we were pleased and will return. I expect Hector's will be reviewed soon so now is a great time to try it out before it gets discovered in DMN.
