Haricot Vert Morphing into Good ole String Beans

meinNYC | May 10, 201611:55 AM     9

I've noticed that lately what is being sold as haricot vert is really fat old string beans. Haricot Vert used to look nice and thin and small, now they look like, well string beans. They are a bit straighter, but I think they are being allowed to grow big so we can pay more. String beans in NYC are $3/lb, but these are $6 to 8 a pound. What is going on? Has anyone else noticed this trend. Want real skinny haricot vert.
