Valle Eatery & Bar opened in a few months ago in Lompoc's Hilton Garden Inn. It's an offshoot of the popular Valle Fresh in Los Alamos. https://www.chowhound.com/post/valle-... It offers happy hour daily from 2pm– 5 pm & 9 pm– 11pm. On Thursday I met some friends who were in town for the AIDS Life Cycle for an afternoon bite and drinks from the happy hour menu. The snacks ranged from $5 to $10 apiece.
Shishito peppers, $6 - A good size pile of blistered shishito peppers were dressed with tasty romesco sauce and grated Spanish Idiazábal cheese.
Chicharrones, $5 - Freshly fried, greaseless pork skin were light and airy, served with an excellent salsa verde and pico de gallo. Hot Wings, $10 - My favorite of the bites, these were big with juicy meat and just a dusting of seasoned flour for the thinnest of crusting. A choice of two sauces --- a fiery habanero creamy salsa and a tangy tamarind sauce --- we were able to have a little of each to try.
Sausage and jalapeño pizza, $10 - Heavily topped with a mild red sauce, crumbled sausage, a ton of sliced jalapeño chile peppers, melted mozzarella and grated grana, this packed a lot of flavor. But the crust was too blonde for me and could have been crisper.
My friends enjoyed a couple rounds of the house margarita, $7. I tried the Casa Dumetz rosé cider, $6, that has Grenache in the blend. Not my favorite as the wine tannins introduce a bitter edge, but I'm glad I had a chance to try it.
Valle Eatery serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as happy hour. A graduation party was in progress on the patio and the hotel lobby was packed during our time there. I was impressed that the servers could keep up with orders for as busy as it was. Valle Eatery is off to a good start.
