Happy Garden - El Cerrito

dunstable | Apr 26, 2012 08:06 AM

Of interest only to people who live or work in El Cerrito:

New Chinese opened up in El Cerrito, close to my work. (edit: it seems from Yelp that this place has been around a little while, but there is currently a sign that says "Grand Opening.") El Cerrito seems to have plenty of Chinese, so this one seems redundant, but they have an extremely cheap lunch special: 4-5 dollars for entree, rice, soup and "appetizer" (which for me turned out to be a small bit of that bland salad that often comes with Hawaiian plate lunch). The soup was hot-and-sour soup, which I thought was okay, tasty even. I got the beef with broccoli, which was okay -- nothing I'd seek out, but I'd happily go there again, especially as it is much closer than the one El Cerrito Chinese that I kinda like (Little Hong Kong). Decent portion size, too. Let's put it this way, I would much rather eat there than at a Panda Express.

Anyhow, please go there so that it stays in business and I have a non-disgusting place to grab lunch at work.
