Gregoire - Corned beef, quail stuffed with foie

With all the vetching about the lack of a good deli, I nominate Gregoire for serving some of the best cold cuts in town. They don't always offer them but their roast beef, ham and corned beef can't be beat. Why? Because they cure their meats in house, from premium pork and beef and serve them fresh. No shrink wrapped Niman Ranch garbage here.

Corned beef on saurkraut is excellent. Now, as I'm not a 55 year old German Jew from New York I can't really claim expertise on corned beef with saurkraut...but this is a damn good sandwich. The corned beef is flavorful with nice sour notes and the saurkraut is not too vinegary. I eat at Gregoire a lot, and this is among his best sandwiches.

Semi boneless quail stuffed with foie gras with a rasberry demi glaze is why I love Gregoire. Where else can you get two quails, stuffed to the brim with foie for only $16? This dish is rich, decadent and delicious. I'll be eating a lot of foie this month.

He also has the scalloped potatoes this month, which are better than the puffs IMO.
