Well, after 15 years of living in NYC, I only
recently discovered something so obvious. There
are some great stores on Grand Street selling high
quality cheeses, meats, olive oils, etc.
I've been to Di Palos (206 Grand, near Mott
Street) a few times, and found them to be just
wonderful people. The guys who run the place
love to share what they know, and each time I've
shopped there I have learned something new.
Today I got an education on balsamic vinegars
and olive oils.
Of course, this means that my tastes have now
been ratcheted up to a new level, to wit, I
just paid more for a bottle of balsamic than
I usually pay for the same volume of wine!
