Restaurants & Bars 6

Great New Indian Restaurant

OK, I just have to share this despite my better judgment.

There is a little Indian Restaurant that has been open about six months in Georgetown called Cafe India. It is between the Thai Embassy and Dream Dresser on Wisconsin South of M.

My co-workers and I discovered it and have been going at least once a week. One of my co-workers is Indian (from Kerala) and she says it is as good or better than the best Indian food she has had in DC.

The lunch buffet is $7.00, all you can eat including tea and bread. They usually have rice and seven entrees plus fresh watermelon, salad and different desserts (my favorite is the rice pudding with raisins and almonds). The flavors are incredible. They always have Tandoori chicken. I've eaten off the menu, but the best deal is the lunch buffet 11:30 to 3:30 weekdays.

The decor is nothing to write home about. It was a Chinese restaurant and they have just put up Indian travel posters over the Chinese decorations, but it is clean and the staff is very friendly and accomodating.

I really don't want a lot of people finding out about this place. I want it all to myself, but I also want it to stay in business, so I decided I'd better post this.
