Great Indian/Pakistani food on Capitol Hill

Nancy | Apr 12, 2004 11:04 AM

Had a wonderful meal last night at the fairly new Indian/Pakistani place on Capitol Hill (8th Street between D & E, SE). I think it's called Capitol Hill Tandoori - not sure about that. Service was very attentive and food was excellent - can't remember all the names but we had naan, shrimp in a kind of creamy sauce, eggplant and chana masala. Waiter asked if we wanted mild, medium or spicy for each dish - I liked that we had a choice. Our waiter/manager had previously worked at Bukhara in Arlington and gave us a quick lesson in the food there, which is Southern Indian/Pakistani, versus Northern Indian. The 3 chefs in the kitchen are from Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. And the prices were very fair - with 3 drinks and dessert, plus the 3 entrees and naan, my friend and I each paid $31 (that includes tip) and she took home the leftovers. Will definitely go back soon!
