I went to Crave in Carroll Gardens this past weekend because I read about it in New York Magazine. I have been to a lot of other restaurants in the neighborhood but nothing has blown me away like this one has. I started off with a sauteed foie gras appetizer(which was on special for the night) that was served on brioche with caramelized banana and hazelnut chocolate. At first I was a little hesitant because I wasn't too sure how those flavors would be together. I ordered it anyway and so glad that I did. It was excellent. It was so smoothe and the flavors really balanced each other out. Delicious! My friends had a caramelized onion and brie tart, shitake and leek spring rolls and a mushroom soup with truffle oil and parmesan foam. Everything was great and the presentation is gorgeous. For entrees I had the classic bouillabaise which was another special and my friends had the ribeye, the artic char en papillote and the braised short ribs. It was really amazing. The service was really friendly and attentive given that it was packed and it seemed they were doing a lot of delivery as well. The desserts are yummy. Nothing grande or spectacular but good comfort desserts. We also got to meet the chefs which happen to be the owners as well. They are really young (to my surprise) and extremely nice. They're a couple and they have a baby also. They came out to talk to us and to see how everything was which I think was really nice because you don't really see that much anymore. All in all this was one of the best meals I have ever had. Anybody who is in the area should definitely check this place out.
