Goodbye forever Queen of Sheeba

Tonight at Queen of Sheeba on 10th ave I had my last hoorah. Me and my sigoth were one of the only non ethiopian couples in there early, and noticed the owner coming around to every table yucking it up with the patrons. every table but ours. But that's probably because he actually knew everyone there. I noticed people getting big scoops of the accompaniements on their injeera platers. I noticed the kitfo being bright orange (nicely spiced with berbere). We decided to order it. Our watiress said, well done, right? No no no we said. NOT cooked. Raw.
what?
we'd like it raw please.
Rare?
no.. we want it raw. not cooked.
When our injeera platter came out we had two little tiny teaspoon sized accompanyments- and the lintel balls that we ordered- that was a little dissapointing. Then the kitfo came out and it was all cooked well done- looked like cooked hamburger meat. As she started to scoop it onto our injeera we complained, they copped an attitude, scraped the cooked portion out of our injeera angrily, we had to restate that we wanted it raw- more back and forth- People around us starte staring. Finally we said we would just cancel the order- she wouldn't have it- stormed off - and 15 minutes later brought us our kitfo raw as we had originally requested( I guess it took a while to cook ) Needless to say I won't be going back. I tried to be polite. I won't go to meskerem downtown or to awash in harlem for the exact same reasons. I've burned through all ethiopian places in manhattan that I've heard of and just leave feeling like crap. Any other suggestions? I'll go anywhere. Something in queens? I just want to be treated like a human being- not a dirty white american.
