Good Old American Cooking

I am yearning for some kind of old fashioned square meal at a restaurant. I have been there done that with every obscure ethnic place in the area. Now I want something very basic. Really good fried chicken, steaks, great mashed potatoes, and so forth. I used to go to the Pub in Pennsauken for this, but the last couple of times I went, it was overpriced and the food was awful. Should I try a steak house like Ruth's Chris? Is there a restaurant that has been serving really good food for a long time? The Country Club diner? any suggestions?
