Globe Bar & Grill in Larchmont

Hi, I tried Globe Bar and Grill on Palmer betw. Depot Way and Franklin Ave last night thanks to this boards reccomendation. (thank you!)

We really liked it except the noise level almost makes us not want to go back. Try to go when it is slow (though it was hopping at 9:30 for dinner on a Thurs so I don't know when that would be.)

There's a restaurant in front and a nice big bar in back with big, high up flat screen TVs--a fun and cool place to see a game with great food and 18 beers on tap but for a nice dinner with my fiance it was too loud and we were in the front (quieter) restaurant part.

We REALLY liked the food though: we split a house salad to start: mixed greens with their chianti vinaigrette--a little sweet but my fiance liked the way it played off the bitter greens. Then we split the awesome veal chop with garlic mashed potatos and broccoli rabe. Whole sweet cloves of roasted garlic in the potatoes, a chianti kind of au jus and 2 little slabs of foie gras pate topped the chop off. The other dish we split was the tuna with a hash of leeks, mushrooms, truffle oil and I think lobster bits. It came with their homemade focaccia (they have a brick pizza oven in back) and a jug of olive oil with garlic cloves floating in it.

I have heard the $12.50 burger rocks and we'll go back to the noisy bar one day to try it. It may be good for a party as there were a bunch of them going on making it loud--so if you can't beat 'em join 'em.

I just moved to the Fleetwood/Mount Vernon/Yonkers area from SoHo so keep those recommendations coming! :-)
