There's serious chowing - and then, there's fun-to-eat chowing. Dinner last night fell into the festivity of fun eating at Avatar's in Sausalito, 2656 Bridgeway. What can you say about a restaurant that touts "Marindian" cuisine and "confusion" fusion of Indian-Jamaican-Mexican-Italian flavors? It messes with your head! But, you'll have a happy tongue as it wraps around the bouncing flavors.
One of the specials on the board was a crab and pumpkin enchilada served with basmati rice - it looks like an enchilada but it tastes divinely like a curry! It was preceded by a "somosa" artfully dressed with chutney, tamarind, and yogurt - each of the seven servings at the table was an abstract art masterpiece (someone in the kitchen had a wild fling with the sauce bottles). The black beer was Xingu-pronounced shin-goo-from Brasil (wow! I love dark beers and this is a new one to me to add to my list of faves). The mango shake is thicker than the usual lassi - not too sweet with just enough yogurt to make it nearly savory.
Where do you go to eat for fun?
