Ate a marathon dinner at Fromagerie last night. It's always a difficult task making the final menu selections- everything is always so tempting. Started with complementary gougeres at the bar - little bite sized pastries filled with gruyere- absolutely delicious. Appetizer was seared foie gras with poached pears and some kind of polenta-ish cake. It was out of this world. The cakes were the perfect consistency to mop up the juices from the foie gras an pears. All the above, piled on your fork, and eaten in one bite, was heaven. The soup du jour (their soups are always top notch) was a potato leek puree- fantastic. Served nice and hot and had a slightly salty (butter perhaps?) finish. Main course was lobster served over an asparagus risotto. Huge chunks of lobster perched atop a thick mound of perfectly cooked arborio- wow. It was surronded by a thin pool of roasted pepper (?) sauce- a nice complement to the other flavors. The cheese course followed- always a nice selection- then the desserts. Most at my table got the chocolate souffle- perfect consistency, broken open at table and filled with an ample amount of chocolate sauce- sinful! The apple tart was also noteworthy. The service is absolutely top notch. Great place for a special occasion or just for a special treat. A can't miss.
