i'm looking for french-style macaroons a la gerard mulot - two crumbly cookies sandwiching a layer of ganache. almond ones would be great, pistachio even better (my favorite). i've been consistently happy with the italian version (amaretti) at modern pastry, but haven't found the french kind anywhere in the city. burdick's sometimes makes teeny ones for something like a dollar each, but they're not exactly what i'm looking for. any suggestions would be much appreciated, as my craving for them is growing by the day.
