French Laundry @ 9:00 pm Seating

LPM | Feb 6, 2005 09:06 AM

After much effort, I have secured a mid-week reservation at the French Laundry. I used Aren's OpenTable method, which required me to set my alarm clock for 2:45am EST. In any event, although the FL's website says that OpenTable holds one table for the 5:30 seating, I was only given the option of the 9:00 seating. I took it.

Can anyone speak to dinner at the FL at this time? It seems a little late to start a 3-hour meal. I assume they're not going to run out of food, but how about the service? Are they trying to hustle people out? And is the restaurant still full for this seating, or is it just a handful of die-hard Gastronauts willing to eat at this time?

Seeing as how I'm going to have to re-finance my house to pay for this meal, I don't want to be short-changed on the complete FL experience.

I'd appreciate any feedback you can share. Thanks.
