Freezing homemade crescent dough?

I found a recipe for homemade crescent dough that I want to use for a party, but it makes way more than I will need. I'd rather make the full recipe and freeze the unformed dough, but how would I do this? Would I let it rise first? All I can find is how to freeze it already shaped.
