Can I freeze potato yeast dough?

Good morning all,
This is the time of year when there are great sales on potatoes. I make and freeze gnocchi and fries. But I have so many potatoes I would also like to make and freeze the potato dough that I use for rolls, focaccia and slicing bread. I had planned to freeze the dough like I would pizza dough, in balls, and form as needed. I didn't think it would be a problem. But then I read , in a number of places, that freezing yeast dough could kill the yeast. I've never had this problem. So I'm hoping someone here could impart some much needed wisdom :)
