"Fourteen Hour Leg of Lamb"

Funwithfood | Jun 11, 2004 06:52 PM

I have never cooked lamb before, but this recipe caught my attention. It is from a cookbook from the 1980s called the Farmhouse Cookbook. The author claims it makes the most flavorful and tender lamb.

14 Hour Leg of Lamb
General Outline:
Sear (4-5 lb.) leg of lamb, into dutch oven in 200 degree oven for 8-10 hours. Increase to 300 degrees add veggies, cook another 4 hours.

{American lamb was recommended over New Zealand lamb because "it is more moist and less sinewy".}

HAS ANYONE EVER DONE SOMETHING LIKE THIS?

(I have never had a problem with low temp cooking--do it all the time, so no need to address that.)

TIA :)
