Opened today. I went by for an early lunch.
Beautiful space. Friendly and enthusiastic service.
The tortillas are homemade and delicious. corn tortilla was of the thick variety. flour was firm but had that lard chew you want out of a tortilla.
I had the braised brisket taco. No discernible taste. needed salt. the pickled cukes dominated. Tasty but not meaty tasting. I used some of their thai chimchurri spicy sauce on it and found it added some needed kick.
Second taco was a pork shoulder. could have been the brisket for all i knew. no salt, no taste. pickled onions and cilantro dominated.
tacos are around 5 bucks each. maybe a little more.
total for two tacos and an iced tea before tip was $13.
I generally wouldn't pass judgement on a place the first day, but it's tacos with braised meat. at that price they should be special. In 2007 this place would probably have been groundbreaking.
I can't wait for TacoDeli to friggin open down the street.
