First of all, I'd like to say that I have (and continue to) enjoy the many interesting and informative postings about all of the wonderful different food choices here in the Bay Area and Northern California. So, thanks and keep 'em coming.
First, recently I won (in a raffle) a $75 dollar gift certificate to dine at a place named the "Foothill Cafe" in Napa (on Old Sonoma Road). I know nothing about this place. I was told by some "Napa locals" that the food is good, the place is more like a restaurant than a cafe, and that $75 would suffice for a party of 2 but not for a party of 4 (which makes me think that this is restaurant serving restaurant dishes with corresponding "restaurant prices.") Anyhow, I'm thinking of using my $75 gift certificate to take someone to dinner to celebrate their birthday. Naturally, I don't want to take someone out for a birthday dinner to any place that is not worth it--in terms of quality of taste and/or dining experience. Additionally, I am based in the Berkeley area so I would have to put in a decent length drive just to get to the restaurant in the first place. So, any and all comments and/or suggestions would be appreciated regarding the "Thornhill Cafe" in Napa.
Second, I, like many other people have heard the radio announcers for KDFC (the classical station) hype the Sunday Brunch at the Nikko Hotel (in S.F.). Has anyone out there ever gone to this, and if so, how was it? Was it worth the price, which I think is fairly steep (maybe $30, plus or minus).
Anyhow, thanks and bon appetit!
