follow-up on earlier conversation re local jams and jellies

In an earlier series of postings on this board, folks were debating the pros and cons of Frog Hollow vs. June Taylor Meyer Lemon Marmalade. I truly, madly, deeply love all of June Taylor's tart stuff and said so. Someone else said Frog Hollow was better on the meyer lemon front. So, I just bought the Frog Hollow at yesterday's Farmers Market in Berkeley. And I don't like it. Perhaps I started w/ a bias--although I was really prepared to be bowled over. It's too tight (too much pectin?) and although I know there's only lemon, sugar, and pectin in the list of ingredients, there's an almost artificial after-taste. Interestingly, the sellers were trying to steer me away from it and towards other products (touting the cherry or apricot conserves). De gustibus......?
