After 11 years I finally made it here. This is a fine example of a world class SF neighbourhood bistro. Every course was well prepared, beautifully presented and the service was professinal and efficient.

The meals began with thinly sliced rye bread served with side of lentil and dried tomato spread. It was nutty with no bitterness and spread effortlessly.

The appetizers are deservedly famous. The shrimp and scallop potstickers were thin skinned and bursting with plump, sweet shrimp. The Firefly Roll is delicately constructed using Ahi Tuna Maki Tempura Avocado, Tobiko and yielded beautifully to the first bite and did not fall apart. The flavor and texture meshed perfectly, both soft and subtle. The pistachio crusted bakded goat cheese was wonderful on the bread and I augmented my little sandwich with the mildly bitter arugula.

The entrees included the salmon and ribeye. The meat and fish were perfectly prepared to prime pinkness, tender to knife and fork. The steak comes with a deck of salty blue cheese scalloped potatoes that were comforting. The purple mashed potatoes with greeens were even better.

Dessert was executed with the same care. The lemon pudding cake was truly great. A topping of pudding like lemon filling was draped over a barely detectible cake like pastry. The pot de creme and chocolate cheesecake were elegant and tasty.

We opted for the fixed price offer of three courses for 30$..a great deal.

I think that Firefly bests Delfina for overall quality, comfort, price. Keep it on your radar.
