Seema's opened just a little over a year ago and has already achieved #12 in Boston's Top 50. That alone speaks volumes about the quality of dining experience this charming place provides.
The restaurant has a friendly ambiance, is cost effective, offers plenty of free parking, is BYOB and vegan friendly, and caters to a wide range of palates while providing a cultural experience anyone looking for something different would appreciate.
The owner is also the chef and takes great pains in explaining the finer points of Pakistani cuisine essentials (influenced largely by Middle Eastern and Persian cuisines) to her customers, while recommending foods from her menu that truly complement the whole experience with tantalizing Sufi music playing in the background. The spices are subtle and not overwhelming, the meat (chicken, lamb, goat, beef) is tender and juicy, the lentils flavorful in their simplicity, the vegetable entrees delightfully healthy, and all foods go well with a wide variety of rice pilau/biryani made of aromatic Basmati rice and garlic naan fresh from the oven. I enjoy Chicken Bihari kebab (grilled, boneless) with garlic naan and yogurt-mint chutney, then savor home-made coconut ice cream and end with herbal mint tea...and of course, I can have Seema's vegetable samosas any time of the day!
I am now a regular customer, and have recommended the restaurant to my British, American, Indian and Pakistani friends and have yet to find one person who did not appreciate the favor! However, I think, even though one may not love everything there (as with other restaurants), but everyone will surely find something that would keep bringing them back.
TIP: Try Seema's lunch buffet first to get a feel of the place and sample a variety of dishes including meat, vegetable, lentils, rice, naan, salad, and dessert -- Tuesday to Saturday. Also check out the website for promotions. She has some really good deals for dinner that come in handy when taking guests!
