I'm wondering if any readers on the board know where to get good cholent, the Eastern European Jewish "soul food" stew, made of short ribs, barley, potato, carrot, etc.?
I had it once, years ago at a New York bar mitzvah, but don't know where to find here in Los Angeles. Interestingly, a family friend, who grew up eating the stuff in the east but hasn't had in many, many years, mentioned to me how he'd love to find a place that serves it, too. We're now men on a mission.
I'm presuming the Kosher restaurants around Pico/Robertson are a good bet, but figured some of the 'Hounds might have a rec or two. Many thanks
