Hi, there has been an adobo thread running on the NY outer boroughs board. While it was triggered by T-bone Sanchez asking about NY area Filipino food there have been several great posts by T-Bone and others about Filipino food in general.
Also I am prompted to widen the discussion 'cause I just noticed that a movie, "American Adobo," has just been released in NY, SF, and LA. And I quote:
In New York City, over the course of one year, five Filipino-American friends share dinners, experiences, friendship, and romance. Though each person in the group has his own uniquely independent personality, the friends all find a way to relate to each other.
MPAA Rating: R for Sexuality and Language.
Dinner with Andre meets Soul Food with an Asian Pacific twist?
It just opened at the Jackson Heights theater on 82nd near Roosevelt Ave. The link below says released in SF and LA but Yahoo didn't seem to have the theater info for those locations yet. There is a Manhattan venue as well.
I will report back tonight.
