My new favorite antipasto/sandwich additive

A couple of months ago I was in my local Italian deli picking up fixin's for dinner and asked for some roasted red peppers. The owner says "try this" and gives me something that looks kinda like a sun-dried tomato. It had a deep, earthy sweetness with a touch of pepper flavor.

It was sun-dried red peppers, imported from Sicily.

Needless to say, I buy them pretty much whenever I go in there- have never seen anywhere else. They're great straight, with mozzerella, or especially on a hero (sub, hoagie, sandwich, etc.) It still like roasted red peppers and do use them frequently, but they don't hold a candle to these.

If you see them in your locale, BUY THEM- they rock!! They're like $8-9/lb, but worth every penny.

IF you're in the NYC region, I can tell you where I get them.
