While driving through York, PA yesterday, I heard a radio ad for Maple Donuts' Fastnacht Day. FYI, I found Maple Donuts, a 10 store chain, and sampled the delicacy, which has its origins in PA Dutch country. Maple's are made with potato flour, and are traditionally eaten on Shrove Tuesday (luckily they were serving them yesterday). They are unique, slightly heavy, but quite good. Maple's varieties come in plain, cinnamon, glazed and powdered sugar. Being from MD, I'll go to Maple's anytime. Beats the heck out of local places, except maybe Tasty Donuts in Gaithersburg.
