Farmers Market notes - 10/5

Stanley Stephan | Oct 5, 200202:48 PM

Frog Hollow's Warren Pears are starting to reach their peak. Look for those turning yellow with a nice pear perfume. Or buy a few harder pears that won't bruise on the way home and let them ripen on the counter. IMO, far superior to Harry and David's comice pears. Sweeter and juicier.

Sciabica has the first oil oil of the fall - pressed 10/03/02. These first presses are wonderful. Usually unfiltered, some very spicy and with wonderful yellow or green colors. Great to fry peppers and sausage in. Also nice for dipping or salad.

June Taylor's Cherry and almond conserve
