Fabulous Asian Market in Hempstead

Erica Marcus | Feb 8, 2004 09:04 AM

I've posted about this before, but for the benefit of those new to the board I must reiterate that:

There is a fabulous Asian market in Hemptead. It's enormous, well-organized, clean and filled with just about any Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, and Philippino product you might want. Great and rare produce, a wonderful butcher and a fish counter the equal of any on Long Island complete with live fish in tanks. Plus, if you get peckish, there is a food court attached which sells the best roast meats (char shiu, "roast pig," chicken, duck) I have had on the Island.

There's also plenty of regular supermarket stuff (milk, toilet paper, Goya products) and there's no reason not to do your weekly shopping there.

For those of you not in the immediate area, it took me under 45 minutes to get there on a Friday evening from Melville and under 30 minutes to go from the market to Roslyn.

In any case, it's closer to most Islanders than Flushing, and THERE'S PARKING!!

V&T Supermarket
12 North Franklin Street (at Front)
