Received an unexpected surprise when I dropped by Hong Kong Asian Cuisine (6618 Old Winter Garden Road) in search of Chowhound recommended pan fried noodles, first being disappointed by what appeared to be a run of the mill Americanized Chinese restaurant, then floored by a separate menu of Peruvian Chinese specialties. There aren't a lot of Peruvian Chinese restaurants in the US, a few in California and perhaps a couple of others scattered in different cities, and I've never seen one with the wide selection that Hong Kong Asian Cuisine has. Unfortunately there's no paper copy of the Peruvian Chinese menu available and I don't remember the specific dishes (except the one I had) because they were in Spanish. I had the pescado con fideos chinos, which was lightly breaded fish fillets stir fried with bean threads (a.k.a. saifun, a.k.a. mung bean noodles, a.k.a. glass noodles). I had never seen anything like this dish anywhere before, and it was excellent. Reports on other items would be appreciated.
