Evergreen - worst Chinese lunch ever

josephsm | Feb 17, 2005 12:24 PM

I dropped by Evergreen on 38th Street (5th and Madison) to pick up some take out. I had high hopes - there were long lines to be seated and it looked much fancier than a typical Chinese restaurant.

Wow, this was the worst lunch I think I have ever had in NYC. Miso soup tasted like dishwater. Beef with scallions -- strips of undercooked gristle with watery scallions. None of it was swallowable. I picked at the rice.

At least it was cheap. Less than $7.
