My third dinner report on this trip. I had passed Ethos a couple of nights ago and RGR kindly verified that this would be a worthwhile destination. Correctamundo! Located on Third Ave between 33rd and 34th Streets.
We started with the Tzatziki and another cold appetizer of blended feta with jalapenos. Both were superb - nice melding of flavors without anything being overwhelming. Be sure to ask for more pita than comes in the bread basket because it comes out fresh and hot - a perfect accompaniment.
Just like in Greece they have a selection of whole fresh fish laid out on ice to peruse. I selected a good looking fresh branzini but they also had red snapper, flounder, sea bass, striped bass and sardines. These are priced by the pound and grilled with olive oil and served simply with lemon wedges. This is one of my favorite meals and the fish was grilled to perfection. The waiter even fillet it for me which was a nice surprise although I was fully prepared to do the scrape-the-meat-from-the-bones routine.
My food allergy biz associate had the grilled salmon which she said was also wonderful. They were very accomodating and were sure not to include any parsley or dill garnish, instead using chives to liven up the plate. We chose potatos and a pea dish as sides.
All in all another terrific meal, although not particularly cheap. Dinner with a total of three glasses of Rioja came to $85 without tip.
